Nearly half of the professionals think vacation is more stressful than it’s worth and you cannot wind down from work.
Work life balance – is that just a myth or reality in today’s hyper connected workplace?
51% of working professionals that work remotely for one day in a week feel that working from home adds to their stress and 43% agree that working from home is more stressful than working at the office. Many professionals work more than the hours expected of them per week, due to the constant pressure of meeting deadlines and a 26% of the desire to get ahead.
Shutting down your computer and leaving the work emails behind at the end of the workday, is a thing of the past and phones and tablets are ruling our time at home as the emails pour in and notifications chime on our smart watches. With global workers and global locations, you are expected to be responsive on emails even during the late hours of the night or the week hours of the morning.
You are not off the hook when you are on vacation as the emails and team communications keep hitting your phone. 48% of workers feel that taking time off is more stressful than it’s worth and 23% feel they are unable to completely disconnect from work when they are on vacation. You also worry constantly on relinquishing control on your tasks as your tasks are delegated to another person and could make you redundant. According to a survey commissioned by Neuvana on professionals in corporate America the pressure of today’s workplace has made de-stressing nearly impossible.
